My ancestors are from Việt Nam, I was born in Hồng Kông along with my twin sister, Hà.

We arrived in Aotearoa in 1990 and were raised here along with my two younger brothers.

Other languages I speak are Vietnamese and I am learning te reo Māori and Mandarin.

Creativity or the Arts - is something I hold close to my heart. It provides me with a way of viewing the world as interconnected. When there are barriers to understanding, I find myself coming back to the Arts—its way of thinking and its power to connect everything and everyone through its many languages of embodied, visual, musical, dramatic, and playful expression.

I have a Bachelor of Design - Visual Communication Design (Honours) and spent around 10 years working in the design industry, most of it as the sole designer at The Learning Connexion - School of Creativity and Art. I also spent two years diving into a more tactile art-making journey. My design career led me to teach the Creative Design course through Te Auaha - now Whitireia/WelTec. I taught at Hunan City University in Yiyang, Hunan, China, throughout the university semester. This is how I found myself walking towards teaching in Aotearoa. I am at the start of my journey as a beginning kaiako and have already been welcomed in with open arms by e te whānau Amesbury. I am blessed to become a part of the family.

Ko tēnei taku mihi ki a Ngāti Toa, ngā mana whenua o te rohe nei.

Ka mihi hoki au ki ngā tohu o te rohe nei

Nō reira, tena koutou katoa
