Tēnā koutou katoa,
My name is Tim Johnston. I’m married to Maria and we have three children, our two eldest (Keira and Emmeline) are at Amesbury School. We live in a multigenerational home in Churton Park. I feel very blessed to live in such a diverse community and I am passionateabout supporting Amesbury School to foster an environment where allstudents can thrive.
I am a Senior Sergeant in the NZ police and a qualified detective. Since moving to Wellington in 2020, I have been based at the Royal New Zealand Police College. In my time at RNZPC, I have had roles training new recruits and later leading the Māori, Pacific, and Ethnic Services cultural training team. In my current role, I deliver leadership training to team leaders and managers within police.
I am fluent in te reo Māori and firmly believe that it is one of Aotearoa’s greatest taonga (treasures). Through the language I feel a strong connection to this whenua (land). I am keen to support the uplift in cultural capability among students, staff and whānau.
