As the Amesbury School Board, we stand in full support of our teachers, principals and support staff as they take strike action this coming week. This decision has not been made lightly by educators, but it reflects a deep commitment to ensuring a fair, sustainable, and high-quality education system for all tamariki.
Our kaiako are the heart of our school. Every day they go above and beyond — nurturing curiosity, supporting wellbeing, and helping our tamariki reach their potential. Yet, they continue to face increasing workloads, complex needs in classrooms, and pay that does not reflect the professionalism and dedication their roles demand.
By standing together, teachers are sending a clear message: investing in education means investing in our tamariki’s future. We urge the government to listen carefully and act decisively to address the issues being raised.
We acknowledge the inconvenience this strike may cause for whānau, and we appreciate your understanding and support. This action is ultimately about creating the conditions where great teaching can thrive — for the benefit of all tamariki in Aotearoa.
