Year 6 Transition Trip into Town
During Transition Week, the Year 6s will head into the city centre on Tuesday 2 December.
This article describes what the Year 6s will be doing and what they need to bring to school to take on the trip with them.
Junior Athletics Carnival
On Tuesday we held our annual junior athletics carnival. It was a great opportunity for our Year 0-3 tamariki to run, jump & throw in a number of events.
For a report on what they did, accompanied by a wide array of photos please see Lily's view of the day.
Use of microwave and hot water at school
We have noticed a number of ākonga bringing noodles to school, and either looking for boiling water at school to cook them, or bringing a flask of boiling water with them to use at lunch time.
Expectations:
Year 3-6 ākonga can reheat precooked food in the microwave in the learning space, if they know how to use it safely and independently.
Ākonga are not to handle boiling or hot water at school. Please do not send noodles to school that require cooking in water. Pre-cooked noodles can be reheated in the microwave, but no water to be added, please.
Here is our food at school procedure.
Emergency Evacuation Practice
Our primary concern is the health & safety of you tamariki. One of the things we do to achieve this is to have an Emergency Evacuation Plan. We hold a number of different practices throughout the year and refine the plan each time based on our learnings.
To this end we will be holding an emergency evacuation practice at the beginning of next year - Thursday 5 February. As part of the preparation can you please ensure that your mobile details are up to date and the details of those that you have listed as emergency contacts. Please contact Rachel with any changes.
For more in depth info please refer to the Emergency Evacuation Practices advisory.
It's Time to return all Library Books and Readers - Due Back by Friday
With the library closing for the year on Friday 28 November, Kirat is asking for all library books to be returned by that date. So please hunt high and low for any school books that you may have at home and ask your tamariki to bring them back to school.
Kirat has appreciated the support provided to the library this year and wants to spend the last few weeks of the year organising the book fair and preparing the library for next year.
Lunch Orders - Orders Finished for the Year
A reminder that Lunch Orders have now finished for 2025. They will recommence again next year and we will provide you with all of the information at that time.

Early next year the school will be undertaking in-class projects that will require cardboard rolls (from paper towels, foil or baking paper)
If you have any between now and then please hang onto them and bring them into school and drop them in the labelled box in our reception area. We really appreciate the help.
