We've come to the end of our 2025 school year. Thank you for sharing your precious tamariki with us and enjoy your family time together over the break.

Wednesday 28 January 2026

This is the first day of school for 2026.

We look forward (already) to those returning next year and wish all those who are leaving us all the best in their future schooling. We have loved having you as part of the Amesbury whānau and you will always be welcome to come and visit.

We have also said a very sad farewell to some of our teachers. Thank you for the impact you have had on the lives of our tamariki and the wider whānau.

Please let the office (office@amesbury.school.nz) know, as soon as possible, of any holiday absence extending into Term 1, 2026.

Connection Meetings at the start of 2026

Along the same theme, on Monday 26 January, (two days before school starts in Term 1 2026), each whānau (family) can book in to meet with their child's whānau teacher.

Please read this article to find out what the meetings are for and how to book a connection hui (meeting).

ICAS Results for 2025

Congratulations to all of the participants in this year's ICAS exams.

A number of students received certificates for their achievements but special mention to the two Adams. They both received High Distinction Certificates but Adam L went one step further and received a medal for his exception performance in Science.

For a full list of results please read here.

Give some thought to whether your Year 3-6 tamariki would like to participate next year.

Congratulations to the Ballad Bouncers

The Ballad Bouncers, an Amesbury singing co-curricular group, were invited as the guest performers at a musical recital at Christian Hills College (Johnsonville) where they did themselves, their whānau and Amesbury proud.

A special thanks to Tamsyn, the group's singing teacher for all her work.

If you would like to watch their performance please see here.

Amesbury Awesomeness & Year 6 Awards

One of the final things to do before school finished for the year was to hand out this term's Amesbury Awesomeness Awards, the Year 6 Awards, and an award to our Junior Division Chess Power National Champions.

Please take the time to read all about the deserving recipients here.

Co-curricular Lessons

Co-curricular reports will be added to HERO within the next week. If you have any questions please contact John.

Our plan is to send out co-curricular invoices for Term 1 in mid January. These will be sent to all tamariki currently taking co-curricular lessons and continuing at Amesbury next year. If you wish to add or change lessons please contact John before the invoices are sent out as it reduces the administration significantly.

From the beginning of 2026 we will be adding cricket to our list of co-curricular lessons. We have partnered with the Sri Lankan Sports Club (SLSC) to bring this popular opportunity to our tamariki.

If you are simply wanting to try cricket or wanting to improve your game SLSC has you covered!

If you think that your tamariki may be interested or you have further questions please email John so that we have an early indication of interest for planning purposes.

Touch Rugby Term 1 2026 - Register Now

Do you want to play touch rugby in Term 1 next year? If so, now is the time to sign up. There are girls, boys and mixed teams available in various age grades.

Photo Book Shout Out

A huge thank you to Tony Kirby for coming into Pōhutukawa and working with a group of students to create photo books.

Tony has been very generous with his time and the students have thoroughly enjoyed working with Tony and benefiting from his expertise.

We are all eagerly awaiting the delivery of the published photo books.

Cardboard Rolls Needed - Please Help

Early next year the school will be undertaking in-class projects that will require cardboard rolls (from paper towels, foil or baking paper)

If you have any between now and then please hang onto them and bring them into school and drop them in the labelled box in our reception area. We really appreciate the help.
