These teams could have not gone ahead without the coaches. We would like to thank Andy, Nicola and Mike for running these teams in Term 1 and we appreciate the effort it takes.
Years 1/2 - Amesbury Honu
The Amesbury Honu wrapped up a fantastic Touch Rugby season on Monday 24 March, after six weeks of action-packed games at Alex Moore Park. This awesome crew of Year 1 and 2 players brought the energy, the enthusiasm, and some serious skills to the field every Monday after school.
There were tries galore (nearly everyone scored!), excellent listening, solid defence, and most importantly—plenty of smiles. The team showed huge improvement across the season, and every player had their moment to shine!
Season highlights included:
Luke’s dazzling footwork, side-stepping defenders like a pro.
Maeve’s lightning speed, chasing down breakaway runners like it was no big deal.
Mei Mei’s epic corner try in the final game—what a way to finish!
Izzy’s game smarts and speed, always in the right place at the right time.
Ruaan’s impressive progress, stepping up as the newest Honu with courage and grit.
Ollie’s all-round effort, with top-tier defence and hustle every game.
Camila’s slashing runs, cutting through defences and finishing strong.
I was stoked as coach with the team’s spirit, teamwork, and the fun had by all. Maeve’s already asking around school if the Honu will be back for Term 4 - and the answer is looking like a big YES. Until then, keep warm and keep active - Term 4 can’t come soon enough!
