The St Brigid’s Kapa Haka Festival was established in 2001 by Matua Wayne Firmin. It was created to provide tamariki and rangatahi (children and youth) from the Northern Suburbs with an opportunity to share and celebrate their kapa haka performances with other local schools and centres.
The 2026 festival details are:
📍 Saturday 19 September
📍 Newlands College, Bracken Road, Newlands
⏰ Amesbury performance time: TBC
All uniforms will be provided for the performance.
Kapa Haka Tutor
Our Kapa Haka tutor, Hemi Prime, will be working with the Performance Kapa Haka group during Term 3 school time to support and prepare tamariki for this festival.
The Performance Kapa Haka group is open to all year levels at Amesbury School.
Commitment to participate
This year, we are asking whānau to complete a short form to confirm whether your child would like to be part of the Performance Kapa Haka group for 2026. By confirming participation, whānau are also committing to ensuring their child attends the festival on Saturday, 19 September.
There is limited space on stage, so early confirmation is essential for planning rehearsals, uniforms, and overall organisation.
Action required
Please complete this form to confirm.
