First Day for 2026

I know that everyone is simply focussed on finishing the current school year and looking forward to the summer holidays, but a heads up that school will recommence again:

9am Wednesday 28 January 2026

Connection Meetings at the start of 2026

Along the same theme, on Monday 26 January, (two days before school starts in Term 1 2026), each whānau (family) can book in to meet with their child's whānau teacher.

Please read this article to find out what the meetings are for and how to book a connection hui (meeting).

Pōhutukawa Fun Run - Monday

With the school fun run being cancelled last week, Pōhutukawa Hub is having their Fun Run on Monday (8 December) during first block.

If students wish to dress up they can come to school in costume on Monday morning and then change into their uniform at morning tea.

Any questions feel free to email Rachel.

It will be lots of fun!

EOTC Week

What a wonderful (and tiring) week of EOTC last week.

There was a huge array of different activities that tamariki opted into as their theme for the week.

For a brief outline of all of the different activities, together with a number of photos and where appropriate, videos, please read the following reports:

Share & Celebrate

As we round off the 2025 school year, we held our final Share & Celebrate for the year which included the handing out of a large number of certificates recognising a wide array of achievements and a big thank you to our outstanding road patrollers for 2025.

To read all about who was recognised and why please have a look at this article.

Nits and Head Lice Checks

We've had a report of headlice (and another possible across hubs), so with the warmer climate, can parents please be on the lookout, and treat asap as required.

Please read this information bulletin and take the appropriate action.

Seasonal Allergies

As Rachel advised in a recent HERO post, there are a number of allergens in the air at present, so please keep an eye on your tamariki for any adverse signs, particularly if they have a pre-existing condition.

Touch Rugby Term 1 2026

Do you want to play touch rugby in Term 1 next year? If so, now is the time to sign up. There are girls, boys and mixed teams available in various age grades.

Please read the info here and register to play. Registrations close at 4pm on 8 February.

Cardboard Rolls Needed - Please Help

Early next year the school will be undertaking in-class projects that will require cardboard rolls (from paper towels, foil or baking paper)

If you have any between now and then please hang onto them and bring them into school and drop them in the labelled box in our reception area. We really appreciate the help.

  4. getting out in the sun for a game of basketball.

We can’t wait to see everyone there for an action-packed week of fun!
