Term 3 Start
With today being the last day for Term 2, a reminder that the first day for Term 3 will be Monday 14 July @ 9am.
Co-curricular Classes in Term 3
Our lessons for Term 3 commence on Wednesday in Week 1, so now is the perfect time to sign up for new or additional classes, or to make changes to existing classes.
We really appreciate the support that we receive from parents for our co-curricular programme. This enables us to:
provide opportunities for tamariki to try out new things, or to become more proficient, all in school time
receive additional funding for the school to provide extra activities for our tamariki
achieve this within school time - meaning that parents don't have to use out of school time to take their children to lessons; and
all at a lesser cost than enrolling tamariki in externally provided lessons.
Read all about our co-curricular classes here, and contact John to sign up and with any questions that you may have.
ICAS Exams 2025
ICAS are on again this year and will be facilitated by Amesbury for any of our interested Year 3-6 tamariki. Read here for all of the information you need to take part.
Next steps:
Complete an ICAS Registration Form for each child no later than Tuesday 15 July
Make payment for the exam prior to sitting the exam
Futsal Festivals
The Futsal Festivals are back for 2025.
They will be held in the Ākau Tangi Sports Centre, Kilbirnie in September and we are looking for registrations. Registrations close at 4pm Monday 14th July (day 1 of Term 3). Unfortunately, late applications cannot be accepted beyond this date.

Amesbury Awesomeness Awards and achievements to celebrate
We presented our termly Amesbury Awesomeness Awards on the last day of Term 2, recognising four students who stood out over the term - August, Joseph, Micke & Mahnoor.
Congratulations also to our three chess teams that represented the school at the recent Wellington Interschool Chess Competition. one of the teams - consisting of John, Andy, Kishore, and Adam - won the tournament and will now go on to the Interschool National Final to be held in September in Christchurch.
Amesbury’s Got Talent Results
I really enjoyed watching the finals of Amesbury's Got Talent. The event showcased a wide range of acts which made the uneviable task of the judges so much more difficult.
In the end the judges made their decisions and, based on the reception that they received, their choices were popular with the tamariki and a large number of parents.
To find out who performed and where they placed please read this article prepared by Hannah who did a superb job of organising the entire event.
Annabel Qualifies for Inter Regionals
With an impressive performance on a greasy course at the Regional Cross Country at Harcourt Park, Upper Hutt, earlier this week, Annabel, Amesbury's sole representative, has qualified for the Inter Regional Cross Country in Christchurch in September.
We are very proud of her effort and judging by the amount of energy she had left having passed the finishing line she put everything into her race.

Koru Hub Term 2: What We Have Been Up To?
Some amazing learning has been happening in Koru Hub this term - from Passion Projects to Exploring Living in the Pacific, and P.E. (including swimming lessons).
If your tamariki are in Koru Hub, or you are interested in seeing what they have been doing have a look here.
Reuse, Reduce, Recycle
Amesbury School would love to have any old items that you think we can reuse and recycle to make into a passion project. For example, turn a plastic bottle into a flower.
Items that would be helpful are washed plastics bottles and lids, old CDs, paper towel tubes, newspaper, egg cartons, ice cream containers and small boxes (no bigger than A3) and fabric.
Please bring it to Koru Art Room or Pohutukawa Make a Space area.
Thank you.
Trip to the Wellington Museum
The Year 3-6s recently travelled to the Wellington Museum. The intent was that they would focus on the history of Matiu Somes Island then travel by ferry to the island itself. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons none of the trips were made to the island. these will, however, take place later in the year.
Despite that, the ākonga (students) had an amazing learning experience at the museum. To see what they spent the day doing please read here.
Miniball Term 2 - Season Highlights
Amesbury had a number of teams playing miniball this term and they enjoyed their experience as well as taking the opportunity to learn new skills and further develop others.
For a summary of how the teams went as well as comments of the players involved please read all about it here.
Northern Zone Hockey Festival
The Amesbury team at the recent Northern Zone Hockey Festival on the Berthampore Turf did themselves proud. No only were they wonderful ambassadors, they competed the full day with no substitutes.
A big thank you to the team and their whānau for all their assistance.
A short report on the day, together with photos can be found here.
Rāroa Intermediate School
Year 6 families are reminded of the details of the Rāroa Intermediate School Parent Information Evenings and Open Mornings next term.
The New Parent Evenings are targeted at parents, yet the open mornings are suitable for both to attend (in case you have any questions about this).
