Below is some information directly from Capital Basketball about their upcoming Matariki Basketball Festival. This is not school organised so a parent will need to run/organise this if tamariki are interested.
Capital Basketball's Matariki Basketball Festival is all go for 2025. This event has seen many walks of life come together to celebrate the game we love and we are excited to bring to life an enhanced Matariki Basketball Festival offering for 2025. New divisions & new opportunities that will continue to speak to and resonate with the kaupapa of this special event.
Two of those new divisions, we are excited to be running, is one Primary (Y3-Y6) 3X3 Division & one Intermediate (Y7&Y8) 3X3 Division.
Each team is to have a minimum of 4 players on the roster & each team is to be registered on Game Day here - MBF 2025 Registration Open
Acknowledging financially times are hard for families we are providing a Koha (donation) for every team entry in this year’s MBF2025. With all proceeds raised going towards the purchase of new wheelchairs and equipment for our region to encourage more inclusive opportunities for our wider basketball community to engage in our game.

Where: Walter Nash Centre, Taita, Lower Hutt
Team Fee: Koha Donation

Divisions: Primary 3x3 - Mininimum 4 Players between Y3 & Y6
Intermediate 3x3 - Mininimun 4 Players between Y7 & Y8
