Our Share & Celebrate events are a great opportunity to recognize ākonga (students) efforts and achievements.
This recognition encompasses acts of kindness, consistent effort in their learning, and contributions to maintaining our environment. We really enjoy the opportunity to acknowledge these.
If your child has an achievement outside of school that you would like to share, please email the details to their whānau teacher. We would be pleased to include it.
We also acknowledge our student leaders, John and Jaden, who organized and led this event. They presented with confidence and represented their peers well – ka pai!

Mahnoor: Mahnoor, you interact so beautifully with people around school. You use lovely manners and always ask adults how their day has been, listening carefully to their answer. Thank you for being such a friendly, polite and caring person.
Malin: Malin entered the Tough Guy and Gal event and placed fourth in his category - ka rawe, well done Malin! It is a tough run indeed, you did so well.
Kishore, John H, Kyle D, Andy, Hanson, Jaden W: Well done on placing first as a team in the regional chess competition for both Wellington and Hutt Valley. You are now heading to the national competition - that is amazing!
In the individual rounds Andy placed 1st overall in the Hutt Valley competition and 2nd overall in the Wellington competition, and Kishore placed 3rd overall in both. John and Hanson both tied for third place in the Wellington competition. Ka rawe, well done to you all for your achievements.
Ella H: Ella also entered the Wellington Chess competition and got a credit and the best female rookie award. Well done, Ella!
Lashika, Anvi, Bhavyaa, Skyreen, Bella S: Thank you for helping to keep our Library tidy after lunchtime! You are showing great responsibility by making sure our space stays clean and cozy for everyone to enjoy in winter. Your kindness and hard work make a big difference, and we really appreciate it!
Hayden L and Atlas: You did a great job staying calm and making kind choices during playtime! When your friends didn’t want to be chased, you listened carefully, spoke gently, and helped by asking the duty teacher to walk with you. That was very responsible, and we are so proud of you!
Waniya: You have been working hard with amazing focus during literacy time, both in reading and writing. It is great to see that you are recognising spelling patterns in your writing workshops and helping others with your known patterns. We are so proud! Ka pai!
Yamuna: You have shown great enthusiasm and a can-do attitude in literacy. You have been working really hard on your fluency and expression with reading. Well done!
Alana: You have, on more than one occasion, taken responsibility when there is a clash with your co-curricular lessons. For example this week you came along to see John before school to advise that you had a responsibility in the welcoming of our Singaporean guests. You asked whether he could change the time of your co-curricular lesson. It’s awesome to see someone taking that level of responsibility. Thank you Alana.
Alicia: In the gardening session of Garden to Table, you acted on instructions and worked independently, listened well when learning how to re-plant the rocket plants, asked good questions, were patient with and helped younger students, and tidied up without being asked to. You led by example, well done!
Booth: In maths, you told me you found it hard, but you persevered and worked through the equations to overcome the previous difficulties you had. Then you supported a student to understand the rounding strategy. You understood that you were in a support role - to explain and let them write the answers rather than you give them the answers. Ka pai!
Harvey W: it's been fantastic to hear about all your recent achievements in your after-school co-curricular activities! Congratulations on playing your very first football game, winning the match, and being named Player of the Day—what an incredible debut! On top of that, earning Player of the Day in rugby as well is an amazing accomplishment. Keep up the awesome mahi (work).
Anandi: Thank you very much for taking the time to play with Māwhero’s tamariki ma. You have made them feel welcome and included.

Dhruva: You are attentive during learning and is always trying to do your best. You are also a good friend to all those around you in Māwhero.
Anandi: We've been so impressed with your writing effort these past few weeks! It's clear you're eager to learn, and you truly see feedback as a fantastic opportunity to keep getting better. That kind of growth mindset is going to take you far so keep it up!
