Disco - Term 3!

By: Charlotte Montu | Posted Thursday August 7, 2025

This term we are hosting a disco to fundraise for our new Pasifika Dance programme here at Amesbury. We have an awesome Pacific cultural learning & performance programme - presented by Inano Dance - each Monday to teach our tamariki. In light of this new programme our disco will be pacific themed, with island music and encouraged pacific costumes.

To make this event a success, we need your help. If you’re available to help us run the disco smoothly and for our tamariki to enjoy, please complete the attached form.

To make this a fantastic event, we need parent volunteers to help with:

  • Decorating the hall

  • Organising and selling food, bracelets, flower lei’s and glow products

  • Applying temporary face paint and tattoos

  • Cleaning up after the disco

When? Friday, 5th of September

Who can attend?

  • Junior Disco (Koru ākonga Years 0-3): 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm

  • Senior Disco ( Pōhutukawa ākonga Years 4 -6): 5.45 pm – 7:00 pm

Cost of Entry

  • $5.00 per child (includes a glow stick)

  • Entry can be purchased in advance through the school shop (Kindo), by 3pm on Thursday, 4th of September 2025. Cash entry on the day is also possible.

What’s available for purchase?

  • Cheese pizza (gluten-free base option available) – $1.50 per slice. Pizza can be pre-ordered via Kindo up to 3pm on Thursday, 4 September 2025, (a limited amount may be available for cash purchase on the day).

  • Bags of assorted lollies – $2.00 per bag

  • Small packets of chippies – $1.00 per bag

  • Glow-in-the-dark products – 50c to $2.50

  • Face painting – $1.00 - $2.00

  • Temporary Tattoos - $1.00 - $2.00

  • Flower Lei’s - $2.00

Water dispensers will be available for children to help themselves.

If your tamariki wish to buy items with cash, please send them with coins or small notes, as we may not have change for larger denominations.

Where is it held?

Both discos will be in the school hall.

  • Arrival: Please enter through the main entrance (front of the school).

  • Pick-up: Caregivers must enter through the main entrance and exit via the side doors (facing the caretaker shed).

  • Caregiver Lounge: If you’d like to stay onsite, tea and coffee will be available in the whare pukapuka (library).

If you’re available to help, please email charlottemontu@amesbury.school.nz as soon as possible and let us know which disco you can support.

Thank you for helping make this event a success for our tamariki!
