Student Conferences Term 3 2025
Next month we are holding Student Conferences. This is an opportunity for a 20 minute in-person opportunity for parents and caregivers, tamariki and kaiako (teachers) to discuss their child's progress, their learning levels and social development. Booking is essential - and first-in chooses their preferred time.

2025 School Board Parent Elections
Nominations for five parent representatives on the school board are now open. Nominations must be received no later than noon on 13th August.
If you are interested in nominating someone to stand then please read through this information from the Returning Officer.
Amesbury Speech Competition 2025
The Amesbury Speech Competition is on again this term and registrations are now open.
Get preparing your item now to meet the following timetable:
Registration - closes Friday 8 August
Heats - Weeks 6 and 7 (18th - 29th of August)
Finals (Koru) - 2pm on Thursday 11 September
Finals (Pōhutukawa) - 2pm on Friday 12 September

The latest issue from Scholastic's Book Club - Issue 5 - is now available to view and for placing orders.

Junior Swimming Carnival Fun
The Junior Swimming Carnival was held recently at the Tawa Pool.
Apart from those you took the opportunity to compete against the other tamariki, a number used the time to participate in some fun-filled activities in the pool.

Share & Celebrate
Our latest Share & Celebrate was held today with a large number of our tamariki recognized for the extra things that they have been seen doing over the last few weeks.

Reuse, Reduce, Recycle
Amesbury school would love to have any old items that you think we can reuse and recycle to make into a passion project. For example, turn a plastic bottle into a flower. Items that would be helpful are:
washed plastics bottles and lids
old CDs
paper towel tubes
newspaper
egg cartons
ice cream containers
small boxes/cardboard (no bigger than A3)
fabric.
Please bring it to Koru Art Room or Pohutukawa Make a Space area.
Absence/Medical
If a student is unwell and absent from school for 5 consecutive days due to medical reasons, we ask for a medical certificate from a health professional be provided (including the date seen, confirming the days unfit for school and estimated return date).
Absence/Away
For 5 days or more away from school due to holiday or travel during term time, parents are required to contact the Principal in writing. For planned trips, this should be well in advance of the holiday/time away from school.
Uniform
Lower half clothing and long sleeved tops worn under polos must be plain black. No jeans.

This coming week is Staff Choice and we have loads of fun activities planned for you all. We’ll be:
making some yummy Anzac biscuits
creating awesome Loom Band bracelets
making some slime
having a superhero relay
plus we will get a chance to go outside and play some football; and
getting creative by designing our own mini boats
We cannot wait to see you all there!
Love Tennis - Sunday 7 September
Love Tennis is Tennis NZ's annual, nationwide event where clubs across Aotearoa open their courts to the community. It’s a fun, FREE event for all ages – the perfect chance for families to come along and give tennis a go.
There will be something for everyone - mini games, giveaways, BBQs and much more. It’s a fantastic day out for the whole whānau!
You may also wish to take part Love Tennis colouring competition - students can bring their artwork along to a club to be in to win some cool prizes!

Art of Living Foundationis a global non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering individuals and communities through evidence-based breathwork, meditation, and stress-relief programs.
They are hosting a freeCommunity Breathwork Session at Johnsonville Library, Waitohi Hub on Thursday, 31 July. These sessions offer practical tools to manage stress, improve sleep, and support overall wellbeing – and are open to all.
