Student Conferences Term 3 2025
Next month we are holding Student Conferences. This is an opportunity for a 20 minute in-person opportunity for parents and caregivers, tamariki and kaiako (teachers) to discuss their child's progress, their learning levels and social development. Booking is essential - and first-in chooses their preferred time.
For more precise information concerning Student Conferences, including when they are being held and how to book please read this article which Urs has already sent out as a separate HERO post.
Co-curricular Classes in Term 3 - Starting this week
Our lessons for Term 3 commence in Week 1, so please sign up before then if your tamariki are interested in trying something new.
We really appreciate the support that we receive from parents for our co-curricular programme. This enables us to:
provide opportunities for tamariki to try out new things, or to become more proficient, all in school time
receive additional funding for the school to provide extra activities for our tamariki
achieve this within school time - meaning that parents don't have to use out of school time to take their children to lessons; and
all at a lesser cost than enrolling tamariki in commercially provided lessons.
Read all about our co-curricular classes here, and contact John to sign up and with any questions that you may have.
ICAS Exams 2025 - Registrations close Tuesday
ICAS are on again this year and will be facilitated by Amesbury for any of our interested Year 3-6 tamariki. Read here for all of the information you need to take part.
Next steps:
Complete an ICAS Registration Form for each child no later than Tuesday 15 July
Make payment for the exam prior to sitting the exam
Futsal Festivals - Registrations close Monday
The Futsal Festivals are back for 2025.
They will be held in the Ākau Tangi Sports Centre, Kilbirnie in September and we are looking for registrations. Registrations close at 4pm Monday 14th July (day 1 of Term 3). Unfortunately, late applications cannot be accepted beyond this date.
Read all the details here.
Reuse, Reduce, Recycle
Amesbury School would love to have any old items that you think we can reuse and recycle to make into a passion project. For example, turn a plastic bottle into a flower.
Items that would be helpful are washed plastics bottles and lids, old CDs, paper towel tubes, newspaper, egg cartons, ice cream containers and small boxes (no bigger than A3) and fabric.
Please bring it to Koru Art Room or Pohutukawa Make a Space area.
Thank you.
Clothing backup - for ALL STUDENTS pleaseWith winter here, so is the rain, puddles and mud. Please pack a spare set of shorts/track pants/leggings, and underpants in the school bag (for all ages and sizes) with a plastic bag to put the wet clothes in, and let your child know that they are there for them to get changed into. For some children it can be embarrassing or upsetting when they unexpectedly become wet or dirty (particularly if there isn't anything for them to change into) or they don't like what is available. We do not hold many spare clothes so are not able to cater for all 'requests' and sizes (particularly over size 8). If there isn't anything for students to change into, we may need to call and ask for clothes to be brought to school.
