Chess Team 4th at NZ Interschool Champs

Huge congratulations to John H, Andy X, Kishore, Adam C on their magnificent 4th placing in the recent National Chess Interschool Final in Christchurch - having missed out on 2nd only on a count back, and 1st place by 1 point - out of the twenty-three teams who qualified from their Regional Championships. They came away with draws against the top two finishers but did not play against the team who finished third.

Andy with 6.5 out of a possible 7 points was awarded the Best Board 2 player. given where the Amesbury Team finished the rest of the team also performed with distinction.

It was such a great experience to witness our school chess team grew up so rapidly in the past two years, starting from 3rd last place in Wellington two years ago to 4th place nationally today.
