Learning Celebration in Week 6

As we near completion of our first learning module for the year - based on Newton's three laws of motion, friction, and gravity - it's timely to let you know that we have planned a Learning Celebration where the ākonga can demonstrate what they have learnt and created. This will occur at 2pm on Friday 29 May. However, if you can't make it at that time, you are welcome to come along between 8.30-9am that morning to view the displays and have your own child explain them to you. Either way, we hope that you can make it along.

For more details about what ākonga have been learning and what is happening on the day and what the other modules there are this year please read this information item.

Mid-Winter Disco

Friday 19 June - Save the date

Enter it in your calendar so that your tamariki don't miss out.

Disco times can be found here.

Junior Invitational Cross Country

The Junior Invitational Cross Country - involving ten other schools in our area - was held on Tuesday for all the qualifying Year 0-3 students.

The weather was marginal early on but the decision was made to proceed and nearly 300 tamariki took the opportunity to put forward their best effort.

That included all of the Amesbury participants but one in particular stood out as he finished with a top three placing and that was Brax in the Year 3 boys group. Awesome job Brax!

Share & Celebrate

We held our latest Share & Celebrate today and it was particularly noticeable the number of tamariki that were recognised for taking responsibility for tasks that weren't their particular responsibility. Well done to everyone.

To read who was recognised this week please read here.

Materials for School Projects

  • Te Rito would love these things for Inquiry please: toothpaste boxes, soap boxes, cardboard spice boxes, wooden bbq skewers & straws

  • If you happen to have any spare cardboard boxes, recycling, or plastic bottles please bring it into Pōhutukawa Hub

Lost & Found

Fleeces - a number have been left around school unnamed. It's getting cold so if your child has lost theirs, please ask at the office

One air pod - found on the road near school and brought to the office

Marsden School Library Book

A book - photo below - was left in our library, but it belongs to Marsden School. It has likely been dropped in error by a family who have a student at both Amesbury and Marsden. Could we request that whoever dropped it in, collect it from the office and return it to Marsden? Thanks.

Kelly Club

This coming week our theme is musical mayhem and we are so excited for all the fun we will have. We will be:

  • making DIY harmonicas

  • playing a fun game called musical islands; and

  • making our own tambourines

We cannot wait to see you all there!
