Learning Celebration in Week 5
As we near completion of our first learning module for the year - based on Newton's three laws of motion, friction, and gravity - it's timely to let you know that we have planned a Learning Celebration where the ākonga can demonstrate what they have learnt and created. This will occur at 2pm on Friday 29 May. However, if you can't make it at that time, you are welcome to come along between 8.30-9am that morning to view the displays and have your own child explain them to you. Either way, we hope that you can make it along.
For more details about what ākonga have been learning and what is happening on the day and what the other modules there are this year please read this information item.
Online Safety for Ngā Tamariki
We live in a digital world and a major parental focus is ensuring that we keep our tamariki safe while they are online.
To this end, Urs has put together this guidance around the issues and a link to resources that will assist in keeping your tamariki safe while on line.
Supporting The Winter Project
Not everyone in Wellington is fortunate to have all they need to keep themselves warm during the winter. With this mind, eleven years ago, a group of students from Samuel Marsden Collegiate School started The Winter Project. The Winter Project collects winter clothing and blankets that are then distributed to schools with families in need in the Wellington region.
On their behalf we have a collection point in the office for donations of warm jumpers, pants, jackets, polypros, blankets, beanies, scarves, gloves from now until 15th May. All donations will then be collected and distributed around King's Birthday weekend.
A sincere thanks in advance.
Morning Tea Sausage Sizzle
At morning tea time on Tuesday 12 May, alongside our annual Junior Invitational Cross Country which is being held at Amesbury, we will be holding a sausage sizzle fundraiser.
Please preorder sausages via Kindo no later than Sunday 10 May. Sausages are $2 each. Sausage options are: regular, gluten-free and vegetarian.
We also need at least 4 adult volunteers to prepare and to run the BBQ from 9am until approximately noon. If you are able to help for some or all of the time, please email hannah@amesbury.school.nz.

Share & Celebrate Term 2 Week 2
We held our latest Share & Celebrate to close out the school week. What a great array of reasons to recognise the various tamariki this week - sport, leadership, helping others.
However, there was one in particular that caught my attention, and it was to Ollie and Callan (who is a former student) - both aged 9 - who wrote and published a book called The Adventures of Activity and Pig. How amazing is that! What's more it's available for sale if you are looking to assist a couple of aspiring authors.
For all the details on all of the recipients, read here.
Out of School Care
A reminder that we have two out-of-school care organisations that operate here at Amesbury School. While they are both independent of the school we acknowledge the contribution that they make in providing for Amesbury tamariki. Please use their services, if appropriate, as we would not like to lose them from school due to insufficient patronage.
Kelly Club offer before and after school care as well as holiday programmes
