Tough Guy and Gal Challenge

The Tough Guy & Gal Challenge is on again in Wellington in May.

Feedback from tamariki from previous years has been extremely positive. For some reason they particularly enjoy the mud!

Read all the details here and Register. Registrations close on 30 April. Please note that we are not sending a "school" team so you will be responsible for getting your tamariki there and picking up their race numbers.

Note also that there is a limit to the numbers that the organisers can cater for so if you are planning to participate - don't dally, 7 May is already sold out.

Science Road Show

On the first day of Term 2 (Monday 20 April) all of our tamariki will be attending the Science Road Show being held at Rāroa Intermediate School.

All tamariki will travel by bus to the 70 minute session which will be held in three groups throughout the day.

Please read all the details here. Included in there is a Parent Helper Form which we encourage available parents/caregivers to complete which will ensure that our tamariki remain safe as well as enjoying their experience.

The cost of the show is $15 which includes bus costs to and from Rāroa Intermediate. This has been invoiced to your kindo account.

If you have any questions please email your child's whānau teacher.

Home Learning Activities

Urs has put together a few key resources that you can use with your tamariki at home to support their learning.

Please take a few minutes to look at the resources and use whatever suits you.

This Resource List will be included in the Amesbury Digest each week as an easy way to find the resources.

Ezlunch

Ezlunch is running an Easter promotion.

Every lunch order placed between now and the end of term goes into a draw to win Kindo credit (up to $100!). You don't need to do anything extra. Just order Ezlunch for a Wednesday or Friday and you're in the draw. Winners announced in Term 2.

  • Wednesday: Nada Bakery - Kindo ezlunch (filled breads, pies, sushi...)

  • Friday: Lyxe Sushi - Kindo ezlunch (sushi, dumplings, rice dishes, steamed buns)

Lunch Orders

This will be the last week to get lunch from Nada as next term we've moving to Subway on Wednesdays ... watch out for the menu coming soon on Kindo Ezlunch.

Amesbury School is partnering with Downtown Community Ministry

Downtown Community Ministry's (DCM) motto is “Together we can end homelessness” and to do this they partner with the Wellington Community to provide for the practical needs to achieve this objective.

This where the Amesbury whānau can be of assistance. We have a collection point in the school's reception area for you to drop off non-perishable items. A small contribution by a number quickly becomes a large quantity. A suggested list is included in Urs's article together with more information about DCM. Please add an item to your weekly shop to help our vulnerable neighbours. A sincere thanks in advance.

Help Amesbury win $10,000 of Sports Equipment

We love sport here at Amesbury, plus we know that it is of huge value for our tamariki.

ASB are holding their Big Little Sponsorship scheme again this year and you can play your part to help Amesbury School. We are asking you to nominate Amesbury here. In her article, Urs even provides you some answers to the questions if you want to help but have limited time to spend the time thinking of an answer. Having said that, you are encouraged to provide your own answers.

Entertainment Books

Did you know that we have partnered with Entertainment to fundraise for our school?

Right now, you can grab a Limited Edition, Access to all areas across NZ, AU and Bali, for just $75 Plus, you will go into the draw to win the Ultimate Expedition to Antarctica!

Even better, further to the 20% of every Membership going straight to our fundraiser, Entertainment will match it, so we will get DOUBLE!

Marsden School Library Book

A book - photo below - was left in our library, but it belongs to Marsden School. It has likely been dropped in error by a family who have a student at both Amesbury and Marsden. Could we request that whoever dropped it in, collect it from the office and return it to Marsden? Thanks.

Drama Remedy (April Holiday Programme)

Maneesha, who teaches co-curricular Speech & Drama lessons at Amesbury, is offering a programme during the upcoming school holidays.
