School Community Gathering - Friday
The School Community Gathering is on this Friday (27 February), from 4:00pm to 5:30 pm.
Amesbury families are invited to join together on the main school field for an afternoon of connection, laughter, and shared experiences.
School will supply pizza and a sausage sizzle but you are most welcome to bring along your favourite family kai (food) to share with your loved ones as you enjoy a picnic on the field.
This is a great opportunity for the entire Amesbury community to get to meet new friends or to get to know others better, and enjoy the beautiful weather that we will have on the day.

Term 1 Disco
This term's disco is set for Friday 20 March.

Scholastic Book Club
2026 Issue 1 of the Scholastic Book Club is now available.
Have a read through Kirat's info and place your orders which close on Friday 13 March to take advance of free freight to school. After this date delivery will be made directly to you a a freight charge will apply.
Nits and Head Lice Checks
We've had a report of headlice in Pōhutukawa Hub, so can parents please be on the lookout, and treat asap as required.

Pedal Ready - Continues
Pedal Ready, for our Year 5 & 6 tamariki will continue this coming week.
In his article, Brydon has set out all the info you need, including how the programme works and a link to show you which day(s) your tamariki will be taking part.
Most importantly, please ensure that your child brings their bike and helmet to school on the day(s) they are scheduled to participate.
Soft Plastic Recycling Programme - Underway
After a successful first year in 2025, starting last week for 2026 our Year 6 tamariki will be collecting soft plastics from school each Thursday, , and taking them to New World Churton Park to be recycled.

Before the tamariki can take part, parents need to complete the Google Form - providing permission for their child to take part in this off-site walk - that Gar Kee sent out last week. If you have not yet completed and returned the form please do so as soon as possible.
Movin' March 2026
March is coming up so it's time to get organised for this year's "Movin March".
Things will operate a little differently this year, however, the focus still remains on "walk, scooter, bike, or wheel" to school throughout March. Apart from the health and environmental benefits, spot prizes are also up for grabs.

Children's University 2026
Registrations are now open for Year 5s & 6s to participate in Children's University in 2026.

Registrations, using this form, close on Sunday 15 March. In the meantime if you have any questions please contact Kirat.

Thursday is still pizza day (select shops)
Wednesday and Friday orders (select ezLunch - formerly Lunchonline) for the Nada Bakery and Luxe Sushi menus

We are only involved in a part of the lives of our ākonga, so if you have something outside of school please send the info and, as appropriate, photos to their whānau teacher so that all the Amesbury whānau can celebrate their achievements.
This coming week our theme is Kids Choice! We will be
making some yummy cupcakes
having a fort building competition to see who can make the craziest for
making some slime; and
playing football and basketball
