Student Conferences Term 3 2025 - Week 6

In Week 6 (20 & 21 August) we are holding Student Conferences. This is an opportunity for a 20 minute in-person opportunity for parents and caregivers, tamariki and kaiako (teachers) to discuss their child's progress, their learning levels and social development. Booking is essential - and first-in chooses their preferred time.

2025 School Board Parent Elections

Nominations for five parent representatives on the school board are now open. Nominations must be received no later than noon on 13th August.

If you are interested in nominating someone to stand then please read through this information from the Returning Officer.

Amesbury Speech Competition 2025 - Registrations close Friday

The Amesbury Speech Competition is on again this term and registrations are now open.

Get preparing your item now to meet the following timetable:

  • Registration - closes Friday 8 August

  • Heats - Weeks 6 and 7 (18th - 29th of August)

  • Finals (Koru) - 2pm on Thursday 11 September

  • Finals (Pōhutukawa) - 2pm on Friday 12 September

ICAS Exams 2025 - start this week

ICAS exams begin this week with Digital Technology on Tuesday.

The ICAS exams are for tamariki that have registered before last month's deadline and have made payment prior to the date of the exam(s) they are taking.

St. Brigid's Kapa Haka Festival 2025 Information

Once again Amesbury's very own Kapa Haka group will be performing at this year's St. Brigid's Kapa Haka Festival on Saturday 13 September at Newlands College.

Add it to your calendar and take the opportunity to go along and support our tamariki who will be performing between 12.40 - 1.40pm.

The latest issue from Scholastic's Book Club - Issue 5 - is now available to view and for placing orders.

Help Us Recycle Soft Plastic

A group of our Year 6 tamariki with the guidance of Gar Kee will take part in New World’s recycling programme, which accepts soft plastics and bottle top lids.

This is where the Amesbury whānau come in. Please encourage your child to recycle their clean soft plastics or lids at school and place them in the correct bins which are in numerous locations in school.

Every Thursday those involved in the programme will collect the recycled materials and take them along to New World.

Phones and Smart Devices at School

Just a reminder for the Ministry's 'phones away for the day' regulation which was introduced at the beginning of last year.

Please spend a few minutes looking through Urs's guidance article to acquaint or reacquaint yourselves with the policy.

Lunch Orders

Due to ongoing low order numbers, it is no longer viable for Fusion Food Haus to continue providing lunches for Amesbury School.

Lunch days and providers going forward are as follows:

  • Wednesdays – Nada Bakery (Lunchonline)

  • Thursdays - Pizza Hut (Kindo)

  • Fridays – Lyxe Sushi (Lunchonline)

Rāroa Intermediate School

Year 6 families are reminded of the details of the Rāroa Intermediate School Parent Information Evenings and Open Mornings next term. 

The New Parent Evenings are targeted at parents, yet the open mornings are suitable for both to attend (in case you have any questions about this):

  • Parent Info Evenings - 6pm-7pm Tuesday 5th August

  • Open Mornings & School Tours - 9am-10.30am Wednesday 6th August

Kelly Club

This coming week is Ninja Warriors and we have loads of fun activities planned for you all. We’ll be:

  • making some Ninja bread men

  • seeing who can complete the ninja warrior course the fastest

  • creating some awesome ninja warrior head bands; and

  • so much more!

Call for Chorus Members in Children's Opera

We have a fantastic opportunity for your in a wonderful children's opera at

Wellington Cathedral of St Paul is inviting school's pupils to participate in the opera Noyes Fludde - a work by renowned composer Benjamin Britten, telling the story of Noah and the Ark, which we will be performing on October 17 and 18.

They are looking for children to take part in the 'chorus of animals' - no audition is required, just a desire to sing and be part of what will be a terrific occasion!
