Paid union meeting this Wednesday afternoon

This is very short notice, which we appreciate is inconvenient for everyone involved. However, teachers are fighting for the resourcing and staffing needed to ensure tamariki get the education they deserve. This union meeting is instead of a full day strike on 31st May or a general work ban strike.

Most kaiako at Amesbury School are union members, and there are no alternative options for the union meeting timing - all union members must attend the same meeting. This means there will only be several teachers/leaders available from 1-3pm on Wednesday. As such, we are asking families to collect their tamariki from school at 12:50pm (lunchtime) on Wednesday, where possible. Learning programmes will not be running on Wednesday afternoon.

We understand that this will be particularly difficult for some families to manage, and so we are able to supervise a limited number of tamariki at school from 12:50-3pm on Wednesday using our non-union teachers/leaders. In order to ensure we have enough supervision, we ask any families who will need their tamariki to stay at school on Wednesday afternoon to complete this short form. It is important to complete this form if you intend that your tamariki stay at school. If they walk home by themselves and they are not registered to stay at school for the afternoon, we will let them leave at 12:50pm.

Thank you for your continued support in fighting for the necessary resourcing for our ākonga.

Ngā mihi,

Urs Cunningham
