Share and Celebrate Term 4 Week 2

By: Urs Cunningham | Posted Friday October 17, 2025

Share & Celebrate is where we recognize the amazing things our students accomplish both here at school and beyond!

We are always looking for opportunities to celebrate how our ākonga achieve our Amesbury High Five values. Whether it's the kindness they show their classmates, the effort they put into a challenging project, or activity or helping to keep our community tidy, we enjoy celebrating!

Please email the details directly to your child's whānau teacher, if you have something you would like us to include in Share and Celebrate.

A huge shout-out to our student leaders, Calista and Sueli, for volunteering to organize and lead today. Ka pai!

John, Andy X, Kishore, and Adam: These students represented Amesbury School in the NZCF National Interschool Final held in Christchurch in the term break. They did fabulously well, placing 4th place out of 23 teams - the top teams from across the country. Their team points were 2nd place tie-break

Andy got 6.5 points out of 7 games and was awarded Best Board 2 player. Other players also did very well: John got 4.5 points out of 7 in Board 1, Kishore got 5 points out of 7 in Board 3, and Adam got 2 points out of 7 in Board 4.

HUGE well done to the team for such a huge achievement in a national competition.

Mehr: We have been so impressed with Mehr in our literacy. She has an amazing work ethic, she is always putting her best effort into her learning. Mehr is not afraid to ask for help, and we appreciate how proactive she is. Ka rawe, Mehr!

Lydia, Ethan, and Ruaan: We would also like to acknowledge Ruaan, Ethan and Lydia for their hard work in literacy. We have noticed this term that they are showing excellent perseverance, especially in writing. They understand their learning goals, and they put in the extra effort to achieve them. Tino pai!

Daniel A: On Tuesday Sarah noticed you were the only child left tidying the library at the end of lunchtime.  What a great kaitiaki for our kura.

Juliani, Madelyn, Basti & Fabeeha: Ka pai team for sharing your Pepeha at this term's Mihi Whakatau.  Your delivery was on point!

Miller, Freddie, Harper, and Kaia: This week we have had a new student visiting Koru hub and we really appreciated the way you all took him under your wing and showed him around and were good friends to him. Ka pai koutou.

Gabriella F: Gabriella, you were one of the tuakana in Māwhero as it was a wet lunch.  We were so impressed with the way you interacted with the tamariki and had them all tidied up and ready for learning when the bell went.

Andy X:Andy was diligent and passionate in his Road Patrol training and the instructor took notice. In fact, the instructor pointed out how Andy was so attentive, he did not need to repeat any of his instructions to him at all. Andy - you are going to be an amazing Road Patrol Kaitiaki! We look forward to seeing you in 2026! Well done on your training!

Sophia P: We really enjoyed watching you complete your 800m run during Pōhutukawa Athletics.  We know sports aren't always your favorite activity, but you showed great perseverance and finished your race with a smile on your face. Your positive attitude throughout the challenge was wonderful to see. You should be proud of yourself for pushing through and giving it your best effort. Tino pai, Sophia!

Bayley H: It was wonderful to hear you asking questions about athletic activities you weren't familiar with. You listened carefully to instructions and completed each task with focus and determination. We were especially impressed by how you supported one of our international students, showing him where to stand and how to throw his vortex and quoits. Your kindness and willingness to help others made a real difference during Athletics Day. Thank you for being such a thoughtful and helpful hubmate!

Luca: We have been very impressed lately with how much effort you are putting into your writing. You have been working hard, using your best handwriting and you have written some excellent creative writing including brilliant, interesting sentences.

Pranami, Niharika and Hayley: You three girls welcomed our new student Saarah when she visited us on Tuesday. Thank you for showing her around and making her feel comfortable.

Harvey - It’s been amazing to see how you look out for others. You noticed when someone was feeling sad and showed kindness by comforting them. Ka rawe – well done!

Meera, Vihaan and Zeyaan: We are really proud of the way you have settled into Karaka this term. You have made a very positive start to the term with your enthusiasm and positivity. It’s lovely to see you become a part of our whānau, joining in with all activities and giving everything a go, ka pai!

Annabel and Hayley: Annabel and Hayley volunteered to help out in Garden to Table with the Year 3s. All I had to do was give them a couple of jobs, and they were away directing and supporting the Year 3s with the tasks. Great to see them take on this responsibility and perform very well.

Bryan and Eriola: Bryan and Eriola, you have been working hard to learn and practice your sounds. Thank you for reading real words and nonsense words during our tricky phonics check-in. Ka pai!

Jaiorn and Camden: Jaiorn and Camden, you have tried your best to join in during literacy time and complete your work to your best abilities. You should be proud of your achievements! Ka pai

Maria and Brooke: Your teachers are impressed with the great choices you have been making during Maths time. You have tried hard to challenge yourself with our tricky topic of symmetry. Ka pai!

Keyan and Hana: We love the way you have welcomed our new students to school and modelled what it means to be a Māwhero student. We truly value the quiet, positive ways you contribute to our learning environment. Ka pai!

Bayley H: You were amazing at helping with packing up and closing the sandpit on Thursday at the end of lunch. This made a job much easier for Sara. Thank you so much Bayley.
