Miniball Term 2 - Season Highlights

By: Amelia Prendeville | Posted Thursday June 26, 2025

These teams could have not gone ahead without the coaches. We would like to thank Christine, Craig, Daniel, Phil, Jinji & Henry for running these teams in Term 2 and we appreciate the effort it takes.

Years 3/4 - Amesbury Kiwi

They had a great season together, it was lovely to watch them grow and gain confidence as the season went on! Ryker sinking some great long shots throughout the season! Nixon outstanding with his teamwork and getting everyone involved. Siena with some great hoops and amazing defence! Bailey getting to the hoop and receiving those long passes from down the court! Talia was great on defence, always hands up to distract the other team and being part of the action. Amana with an absolute outstanding last game scoring multiple hoops to get the win for their last game of the season!

Here is what some of the players thought about playing in the Amesbury Kiwi:

  • Talia thought it was fun!

  • Ryker liked shooting longshots.

  • Nixon enjoyed shooting hoops.

  • Siena's favourite part taking the ball off people!

  • Bailey's favourite skill was defending.

Year 3/4 - Amesbury Pukeko

Here is what some of the players thought about playing in the Amesbury Pukeko:

  • Jordan's favourite moment was shooting the hoops!

  • Juliani likes everything about playing miniball!

  • Ileesha enjoyed playing the game and learning new skills.

Years 3/4 - Amesbury Kea

Even though we didn’t get many wins this term, I’m really proud of the team. Most of our players were completely new to miniball, and they often found themselves up against kids who were a bit older and had more experience. But that didn’t stop them — they gave it their all every single game and never looked afraid or discouraged.

There were a few standout moments worth mentioning:

  • Harvey really stepped up as a leader — he brought so much energy and always pushed the team forward. He is our star player.

  • Luke was our go-to shooter, scoring in nearly every game and giving us some solid points.

  • Camila had an awesome performance in our last game, scoring 10 out of our team’s 12 points — such a great effort!

  • Keira showed great defensive skills throughout all her games. She consistently made things difficult for her opponents.

  • Oleesha and Taylor were both brand new to miniball and felt really nervous before their first few games. But as the term went on, they grew more confident and started playing better and better each week — it was awesome to see their progress.

It’s been a fun and rewarding term, and I’ve loved watching the team grow in skill and confidence.

Here is what some of the players thought about playing in the Amesbury Kea:

  • Taylor liked that it was a running around sport and she had never tried it before and she had lots of fun trying!

  • Harvey and Luke's favourite moment was when they were shooting goals!

Year 5/6 - Amesbury Giants

It has been an absolute privilege to coach our miniball basketball team this term. We have a fantastic group of eight young players, each bringing their own energy, enthusiasm, and unique strengths to the court.

Throughout the term, the kids have shown great dedication—turning up for weekly practices and giving their best in every game. I’ve been so pleased to see how much they’ve grown in both their basketball skills and their understanding of the game. Whether it’s passing, dribbling, defending, or teamwork, there’s been noticeable improvement from each and every one of them.

What stood out even more than skill development, though, was their incredible team spirit and sportsmanship. They’ve encouraged one another, stayed positive through wins and losses, and truly supported each other as a team—qualities that are just as important as scoring points.

I’m very proud of all of them, and I’ve genuinely enjoyed being part of their journey this term. It’s been such a rewarding experience to see them grow not only as basketball players but also as teammates and young individuals.

Looking forward to seeing what Term 3 brings!
