Just a reminder that our school cross country is coming up on Tuesday in the middle block of the day. Friends and whānau are more than welcome to attend if you are available.
Students will gather out on the courts just after morning tea, and the race schedule is as follows: Year 6 girls; Year 6 boys; Year 5 girls; Year 5 boys; Year 4 girls, Year 4 boys; Year 3 girls; Year 3 boys; Year 2 girls; Year 2 boys; Year 1 girls; Year 1 boys.
Senior students will run alongside younger students (Year 3 and below) to help and encourage them.
Distances:
Year 1 and 2 students will run 1 lap of the course
Year 3 and 4 students will run 2 laps; and
Year 5 and 6 students will run 3 laps of the course
Students are encouraged to run in their P.E shirt if they have one and should wear sensible sneakers or running shoes. If students prefer to run barefoot, that is also fine.
Spectators are warmly encouraged - it's always good to have rowdy cheerleaders on the side! The students really lift up their pace when they see or hear people on the sideline.
If the school cross country needs to be postponed due to bad weather, Pōhutukawa will hold their cross country race on Thursday 30 April. Koru hub will hold theirs on Tuesday 5 May. If postponed they will likely start from 11.30 (not 11.00 am).
Results for our Whole School Cross Country will help us decide who will participate in further Cross Country Events:
Junior Invitational Cross Country - 12 May with pp 19 May at Amesbury School.
Northern Zone Cross Country - 19 May with pp 21 May at Grenada North Park
Inter-Zone - Tuesday 9 June with pp 11 June at Macalister Park
Regional - 16 June pp 18 June - Harcourt Park, U/H.
Further information will be sent to the families of students who qualify for the Northern Zone cross country events.
