On Monday in Week 5 of this term (17 August) Pōhutukawa Hub will hold its annual swimming carnival. There will be races and time for swimmers to have a splash in the learners pool.
Here are the details for your diary:
Location: 23 Davies Street, Tawa.
Date: Monday 17 August
Time at the pool:
Yr6 = 10:30 - 11:30
Yr5 = 11:30 - 12:30
Yr4 = 12:30 - 1.30pm
Travel to and from the pool: By bus. Each year level will travel by bus approximately 30 minutes before their swim time.
Parent help: If you would like to see your child swim and/or help on the day please let me know brydon@amesbury.school.nz.
Swimmer choice: Ākonga can choose to swim competitively, or to swim for fun in the learner pool (pictured). Soon we will ask learners what option they would like to do.
What you can do: Talk to your child about the upcoming swimming carnival. If they would like to compete, please help them understand the strokes that they may compete in. Races are planned in Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and a Relay race.
What happens next?: Top placers may attend the Northern Zone swimming competition on 3 September (if this goes ahead).
