🌿 Our first trip: Pātaka Museum & Library
On Monday 30 November or Tuesday 1 December, our ākonga will split into two groups, each visiting Pātaka Museum in Porirua on one of these days.
Our visit will focus on Our Harbour – Te Awarua-o-Porirua, where ākonga will explore the history and stories of Te Awarua-o-Porirua. This will allow our ākonga to learn more about the people, places and stories connected to this area and develop a deeper understanding of the place our kura/school whakapapa/connect to. While one group is visiting the museum, the other rōpū/group will have some time to browse and enjoy books at Porirua Library. The groups will then swap, allowing everyone to experience both the museum and the library.
🦁 Our second trip – Wellington Zoo
On Friday 4 December, we will head to Wellington Zoo for a day of learning and exploring.
During our visit, we will spend time with the Zoo educators learning about how we can care for animals. This will give ākonga the opportunity to think about what animals need to live healthy and happy lives and the role we can play in caring for them and their environments. The rest of the day will be spent exploring the zoo, observing the animals and putting our learning into practice.

We are still confirming costs for the day trips, but we expect it to be no more than $30 per ākonga, which covers the entry and bus costs.
